On the heels of the
recent recall of Aqua Dots, craft bead producer Perler Beads, a Cloverdale,
California-based company, offers consumers complete reassurance that Perler
Beads are perfectly safe for use by children.
The recent recall of
Aqua Dots (known
as Bindeez outside the United States) should not be confused with Perler
Beads, a product also used by children to create designs on pegboards. The
major differences between the two products are that Perler Beads use
heat
to fuse the designs, not chemicals, and that Perler Beads are made in the
United States and use food-safe plastic.
“For more than 25 years, we have produced a safe product for children, and
as parents ourselves, we take great pride in maintaining the strictest
standards of quality” says President Kevin Fick. “Parents and grandparents
can feel safe in purchasing and using Perler Beads.”
Perler Beads are available in more than 50 colors, and can be used with a
variety of colorful pegboard shapes to provide unlimited creative play for
children. Perler Beads have been sold worldwide for more than 25 years, and
have been safely used by millions of families. This classic activity is now
being enjoyed by children whose parents grew up with Perler Beads.
Perler Beads fuse through the process of melting with a regular home iron,
then cooling. The bead design is then removed from the pegboard, which can
be used over and over again. Creative ideas can be found on their Web site
www.perlerbeads.com.
