Tangle®
Founded on the principles of art and science, Tangle Creations products are certainly some of the most unusual and interesting toys included in the Toys and Collectibles Wish List. What Is A Tangle? Technically, a Tangle is a series of 90-degree curves, connected and able to pivot at each point. It has no beginning and no end - just continuous motion. Experientially, a Tangle is much more. The motion it creates is hypnotic. Adults and children of all ages can't seem to put the toy down. Tangles are fun, twisty things invented by Richard Zawitz, a 60-year-old Zen Buddhist hippie who, while hiking through Tibet was inspired by the image of the Tibetan Infinite Knot - which illustrated entangled strings and is a symbol of endless, flowing spirit and wisdom. Tangle Creations began some 28 years ago, founded on the concept of "Creativity for All." It all began with the invention of the Tangle sculpture, a device that was invented, patented and manufactured by Tangle Toys in 1982. Since then, more than 100 million original Tangle products have been produced and sold. The Tangle collection has grown into a eclectic compilation of miniature sculptures, toys, inflatables, McDonald's premiums, pens, lamps, chairs, sports balls, R/C robotic toys, science models, therapy devices (with FDA registration) and entertainment content. Tangle Creations mission is to continue to invent and develop new products, ideas, and services with global utility and solutions. Tangle Creations is, was and always will be dedicated to Peace Through Creativity. Richard Zawitz notes that "I will not be satisfied until every man, woman, and child experiences the joy of the creative process." Tangle Therapy Tangle Therapy began as a low impact activity that helped people relieve their stress through its smooth and easy twisting and turning motion. Tangle users discovered they enjoyed the stress reducing benefits of twisting the Tangleing, and they also liked the way that it felt in their hands with its soft, pliable rubber coating and distinctive raised tactile modes. A multitude of positive feedback led to further research showing that Tangle's hand-friendly size and amazing range of motion offered positive health benefits for people of all ages from around the world. Currently advanced Tangle Therapy is made to maximize hand, joint and muscle motion while providing a one of a kind feel and action. Tangle Therapy has been proven to help users in a variety of different health ways.
Doctors recommend Tangle, Dr. Donald S. Parker, Orthopedic Surgeon, states "I have utilized Tangle Therapy in post-operative hand surgical cases with success and patient satisfaction. I have found Tangle Therapy to be effective both physically and psychologically. It's really an amazing therapy tool." No matter how old, people everywhere can benefit from using a Tangle. Children and adults with special needs, such as, ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, or Down Syndrome may have difficulty sustaining attention. The sensory and motor stimulation Tangle provides can help stimulate and maintain attention. Recent technological developments have allowed scientists to learn more about cognitive systems that govern learning, and research shows that children and adults of all ages and abilities benefit from movement while learning whether or not they have special needs. Teaching with Tangle Movement in the learning experience can increase student attention in and out of the classroom. New scientific research supports the use of Tangle as school equipment. Movement is critical for cognition, especially in children under the age of 12 in which communication between the left and right hemispheres of the brain are still emerging. The movement provided by Tangle unifies all brain levels and provides the learner with the opportunity to use both sides of the brain, resulting in whole brain functioning. Not only is it a fun toy, Tangle can help children learn, making it an effective brain tool. Tangle is a brain tool because it can enhance attention through movement. Learning that involves receiving information, such as reading, listening to lectures, and looking at pictures is where all learners have the most difficulty paying attention. Manipulating a Tangle during these times of passive learning can help maintain focus and promote better storage and recall of newly acquired information. In the Classroom The folks at Tangle realize that creating new lesson plans takes time and effort, but behavioral expectation lessons using Tangle can easily be embedded into what educators are currently teaching. Here are some situations in which behavioral problems can be tackled with Tangle:
